Why does the job exist?
This position ensures the efficient day-to-day operations of the State Investment Office and provides a full range of daily clerical and office support to the State Investment Office staff.
A wide range of duties are performed, including office reception, office administration, assistance with financial accounting processes and recordkeeping, and Council support.
How does it get done?
The Business Operations Specialist-Advanced is the public's first point of contact.
Duties will include answering a multi-line phone system and provide clerical/ administrative support to staff members.
Incumbent maintains accounting records, provides accounting support by processing purchase orders, encumbrances, and accounts payable in SHARE.
Many of these duties involve critical and timely administrative and accounting processes and analysis, as well as compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.

This position supports the State Investment Office staff as well as its clients and the State Investment Council.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position has experience in the following:
* Office administration, including telephone protocol
* Microsoft Office Suite
* Professional verbal and written communication skills
* Clerical and administrative procedures and systems
* SHARE financial system, and/or accounts payable
Minimum Qualification
Associates Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or Accounting and two (2) years of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management and/or contract management.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
