The Local DWI Bureau is in the Local Government Division of the Department of Finance and Administration.
The bureau staff works closely with each of the 33 county DWI Programs by providing technical assistance and oversight for the funds which are allocated by the State DWI Grant Council.
The bureau staff collaborates with other state agencies including the Administrative Office of the Courts, the Traffic Safety Division of the Department of Transportation and the Behavioral Health Services Division of the Health Care Authority.
Why does the job exist? To assure the 33 county DWI Programs are in compliance with Local DWI and Juvenile Adjudication Fund (JAF) grant program statutes, rules and regulations, and provides technical assistance for local government officials who oversee the county programs to prevent, reduce, and evaluate the incidence of DWI in their communities.
Essential functions of the position include but not limited to: rating and ranking grant applications; review and approval of grant budgets; process program quarterly reports and pay requests; prepare contracts and grant agreements.
Participate in the State DWI Grant Council Meetings.
Conduct site visits to provide on site technical assistance and guidance related to Statute, Rule and guidelines.
Participate in legislative bill analysis during legislative session.
How does it get done? The key responsibilities in this position include the ability to read and interpret state statutes, rules and guidelines, prepare grant agreements and budget forms, review and approve pay requests, review, rate and rank annual applications for funding, prepare application summary for State DWI Grant council meetings, provide trainings for local government officials as needed and the ability to collaborate with peers, other state agencies and local governments.
Who are the customers? Our customers are members of Local Public Bodies who administer the DWI and JAF grants in their communities.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate should have: *Program management experience; *Grant administration and management experience; *Microsoft Word, Excel, and database experience; *Knowledge of state statutes, rules and regulations; *Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and have public speaking experience; *Ability to review, rank and rate grant applications.
Minimum Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning.

Must have own mode of transportation for work-related travel.
