Antique Moroccan Hand Tooled Berber Leather Babouches Shoes These are hand-tooled, embroidered and embellished leather shoes that were used as decoration.
It is unknown whether they were ever worn.
Provenance is from my mother's and grandparents' home in French Morocco during the protectorate.
They lived in Morocco from the early-1900s to around 1958 and acquired many beautiful items from their travels and being stationed in some out of the way towns and villages.
My grandparents had an appreciation of Berber artisanry and used them to decorate their home in Casablanca.
