1780 Connecticut made desk.
Made and used for 340 years without any problems.
The lid lifts up to access interior side compartments.
The solid brass hinges on the top are replaced around 1880.
I still use this desk I purchased in 1972 in Coventry Ct.
from a very reputable antique dealer.
The age and craftsmanship is unquestionable.
It is made of ancient forest pine and shows detail to quality.
I lived next to the American patriot Nathan Hale's home in Connecticut for 5 years.
This desk is a true piece of American history.
The dealer believed and stated, it was used and handed down from his family who lived in Coventry.
