LEAD TEACHER

* *POSITION TITLE: *Lead Teacher *DATE POSTED: *04/22/2022 *DEPARTMENT: *Head Start & Early Head Start *CLASSIFICATION: *Non-Exempt *REPORTS TO: *Education Director *LOCATION: *Taos Pueblo, NM *JOB DESCRIPTION* Oversees all classroom activities and classroom staff.
Provides a comprehensive developmental education program to children ages three (3) to five (5) years old.
Plans and prepares developmentally appropriate activities for children in the classroom.
Creates and helps support a nurturing positive experience for the children to enhance and promote the educational, intellectual, and social growth and development of children.
Implements Head Start and Early Education Performance Standards.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the child development activities.
Encourages children to take pride in their cultural heritage.
Encourages parent volunteerism in the classroom.
Screen, evaluate, and makes referrals and follow-up.
Orientates new staff or substitutes/volunteers to the routine of individual classrooms and program operations.
Promotes health and safety in the classroom and at mealtime.
Conducts monthly classroom parent meetings to discuss classroom plans, activities, children’s progress and etc.
Knowledge of regulations of Head Start.
Ability to lead and guide the work of others.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
*REQUIREMENTS:* Associate’s Degree and CDA certification.
Three (3) years teaching pre-school age children.
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field preferred.
One (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.
Tiwa speaking preferred.
Valid New Mexico driver’s license with the ability to meet Pueblo’s liability insurance requirements and maintain eligibility for insurance.
Must be able to a pass drug test and background check, with NO prior convictions of any felonies.
