Director of Experiential Education Position Description
Santa Fe Prep invites applications for a Director of Experiential Education, a role pivotal
to fostering service-oriented learning and establishing deep connections within the
greater Santa Fe and New Mexico communities.
This position champions our ethos of
courage, curiosity, and integrity, orchestrating educational experiences that blend service
learning with academic rigor to inspire lives of purpose.
Responsibilities:
There are three primary programmatic elements that this position works in concert with
the Heads of Upper and Middle School to design and direct.
They are the
Outdoor Education Program
Teen Action Program (TAP)
Senior TAP/Senior Internship Program(SIP)
Through these programmatic elements, the Director of Experiential Education will:
Collaboratively design and implement experiential learning opportunities that align
with the Portrait of a Graduate across all grade levels, 7-12.
Co-operate with faculty to integrate experiential learning across the curriculum,
ensuring that students engage in meaningful experiences that contribute to
personal growth and academic excellence.
Organize, coordinate logistics, design programmatic agendas, and communicate
about off-campus expeditions and service learning projects, creating cohesive and
impactful learning experiences.
Develop assessment strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of experiential
learning initiatives, using feedback to continuously improve program quality.
Engage the school community in understanding and valuing experiential education
through workshops, presentations, and strategic communications.
Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with local, national, and potentially
international organizations to offer and enhance learning opportunities for
students to discover their purpose and impact.
Manage the experiential education budget, resources, and logistics, ensuring the
safety and well-being of students in all activities.
Stay current with best practices in risk management and awareness of liability
limitations.
Other duties or collaborative/committee work as necessitated for the growth of
the program and community contribution.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a focus on experiential learning or a related
field.
Minimum of five years of experience in experiential education, curriculum
development, or a similar role in an educational setting.
Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and leadership skills, with
the ability to inspire students and colleagues.
Commitment to the school’s mission, values, and fulfillment of the Portrait of a
Graduate, with a passion for fostering an inclusive, innovative, and supportive
learning community.
