Position Location: This position is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Position Summary The TRU Waste Management Senior Director supports the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract for the U.
S.
Department of Energy, Office of Environmental Management, and Los Alamos NM Field Office.
This position reports to the N3B CH-TRU Program Manager, and is responsible for providing leadership, direction and management of the following organizations: TRU Program, TA-54 Production Control, and TRU Waste Technical Services.
This includes management of all TRU related programmatic requirements, production planning and coordination, and associated SME experts whose skills are integral for the safe and compliant management of TRU waste materials.
This position involves a high level of collaboration within and between N3B organizations to ensure work is performed in a safe and compliant manner, in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, and DOE Orders.
This position reports to the CH-TRU Program Manager.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to): Overview of Responsibilities Safely and compliantly manages TRU Waste Management.
Support the planning, and manages the execution of TRU Waste Management activities including the startup or restart of nuclear facilities, operations, and activities for CH-TRU.
Ensure the implementation of a DOE compliant Conduct of Operations Program (DOE O 422.
1), including Best Management Practices.
Planning / Goals / Upfront Work Work with the leadership team to set the annual strategic agenda.
Assist with the establishment of CH-TRU’s specific TRU Waste Management goals.
Maintain a working knowledge of the CH-TRU organizations’ business plans, structures, and resources.
Align TRU Waste Management goals to achieve CH-TRU’s organization objectives, and N3B contract priorities Manage the integration of priorities and commitments, including safety, security, environmental compliance, quality, contractor assurance and business imperatives.
Execution Identify and assign resources as necessary to execute work scope.
Lead the TRU Program Management group in providing technical direction for characterization/certification of TRU waste, including AK, BOK, and SME program.
Function as the single POC for interface with WIPP and CCP, Function as POC for stakeholders including DOE, TRIAD, and other external TRU program stakeholders.
Lead TA-54 Production Control group in development of production forecasting & coordination, establishing priorities, overseeing inventory management, establishing processing goals, maintaining schedules, tracking and reporting on metrics, and functioning as interface with the CH-TRU operations groups.
Lead TRU Waste Technical Services group in providing SME support in the areas of Waste Processing Specialist, MC&A, and Radiological Engineering.
Maintain communication and coordination between and within CH-TRU functional groups, N3B central organizations, EM-LA, and other stakeholders.
Monitoring / Measuring / Providing Feedback on Performance Ensure efficient use of resources to satisfy mission expectations Analyze TRU Program planning, support, and production activities and evaluate performance in meeting objectives or to determine areas of potential cost reduction, increase productivity, program improvement, or policy change.
Accountable for managing overall operations cost and schedule performance and provide in-depth accurate variance analyses in accordance with EVMS program standards.
Ensure the operations support organizations achieve CH-TRU and N3B goals and objectives and operational performance as measured through the use of EVMS tools.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities): Must have extensive in depth knowledge and experience with CH-TRU waste, including characterization, packaging, processing, and disposal at WIPP.
Must have knowledge and experience with nuclear materials management, including nuclear and/or radiological facility operations.
Must have understanding of LLW, MLLW, and hazardous waste requirements.
General Senior Management Skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions and recommended solutions on problems affecting programs and administration.
Possess a combination of strong leadership skills, in managing all aspects of CH-TRU operations including both people and facilities.
Skill and ability to perform critical strategic tasks and to interpret broad strategic requirements and develop and execute plans to satisfy them.
Ability to contribute functional expertise to Organizational initiatives and communicate effectively.
Experience in implementing complex projects, including facility upgrades, readiness, and start-up of operations.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and public speaking skills, with ability to convey information and represent the organization to both internal and external customers to effectively communicate progress, challenges, and mitigations.
Experience in leadership, management, supervision, and human resources administration of assigned employees.
Education and Experience Required: Bachelors’ degree in a technical discipline combined with 18 years' experience.
Experience should include a minimum of 7 years' of management responsibility.
However, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position’s duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.

Safety, Security, and Quality While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, the Senior Director for Waste Management will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner to include protecting the confidentiality and integrity of Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
This role will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
