Why does the job exist?
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources (HR) Operations Section, providing guidance and support to HR staff statewide, and New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) employees.
How does it get done?
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources (HR) Operations Section.
Ensure all personnel transactions are within established rules and regulations and processed within established time frames.
Provide guidance and support to all HR staff statewide regarding HR related responsibilities, processes and procedures.
Provide advice and interpretation regarding applicable HR rules, regulations, policies and procedures in areas such as recruitment and retention, classification, compensation, performance management, and organizational development.
Supervise a team to include interviewing, making hiring recommendations, conduct performance reviews, employee development and approve leave requests.
Cross train employees to ensure consistency and continuity of services.
Who are the customers?
New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) employees, supervisors, and managers.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in any related field and five (5) years of experience in human resource operations; recruitment, selection, payroll, compensation, and benefits administration and/or occupational analysis.
One (1) year of supervisory experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of this classification.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting.
Some standing, bending and reaching may be required.
