Why does the job exist?
This position is responsible for supervising general building custodial services for the General Services Department owned Santa Fe Buildings.
The incumbent will complete work orders from building occupants, maintain and order supplies on a set schedule, supervise and assign tasks to employees and assist staff with general cleaning in public areas and restrooms.
How does it get done?
The duties of this position include:
- Timely and efficient completion of assigned tasks given by the Custodial Manager.
- Prompt response to work orders.
- Identify potential safety hazards within the building and report them to the Work Control Center to create work orders.
- Assist with janitorial duties as necessary.
Who are the customers?
New Mexico State employees and visitors to State buildings.
Ideal Candidate
- Janitorial/custodial experience.
- Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience.
Minimum Qualification
Eighth grade education.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the state of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Continuous walking and standing; frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, bending/stooping, reaching below the knee, reaching above the shoulder level, climbing stairs, grasping and manipulating with hands; must be able to use a backpack vacuum daily, weighing 10-12 lbs.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 lbs.
