Why does the job exist?
The purpose of this position is to provide for the review, evaluation, and analysis of work environments, and to design programs, and procedures to support regulatory compliance.
Additionally, this position exists to provide for the control, elimination, regulation and prevention of disease and/or injury caused by chemical, physical, or biological agents, and ergonomic factors.
This position will also provide for the inspection and compliance of prison facilities, central office campus, and probation and parole offices, ensuring enforcement of laws and regulations governing the health and safety of NMCD employees.
How does it get done?
* Conduct and provide oversight of inspections and investigations related to fire code and related activities.
* Serve as liaison between NMCD and other state and federal agencies in regards to Fire and Safety statutes.
* Serves as the Loss Control Coordinator conducting training, investigations, and compiling reports on injury, incidents, and damages to property.
* Provides Safety and Sanitation program oversight through pre-inspection reviews, training, audits, and inspections.
* Responsible for the oversight of all OSHA reporting and compliance.

Ideal Candidate
Experience with the following:
* Supervising employees in a safety environment
* Investigations and/or audit experience
* OSHA experience
* Fire/Safety experience
Minimum Qualification
A Bachelor's Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of professional level experience with a tactical impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment.

Employment Requirements
This position is designated a safety sensitive position.
Employment is subject to a pre-employment and random drug testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing.
Must possess and maintain a Driver's License.
Pre-employment background investigation is required and is
conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which may include daily contact with inmates.
Willingness to
work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
