Why does the job exist?
The purpose of this position is to supervise a team of high-level Information Technology personnel and direct their day-to-day activity to accomplish the Program's responsibility: managing and operating 10 Distributive Learning Classrooms throughout the New Mexico Army National Guard consisting of 170 workstations.
The position will ensure effective management of IT spending in alignment with the state's strategic plan and Program's respective budget availability.
Additionally, the position collaborates closely with the Program's Chief Information Officer, Department of Military Affairs leadership, and agency IT staff both assigned to State and Federal positions, towards these goals.
How does it get done?
Directing the personnel, resources, guidance, training, collaboration, communication, and processes related to the Program's IT projects , IT professional service procurement reviews, security compliance, IT strategic plans and IT budget tracking.
Supervisor of IT staff; classroom scheduling; staff scheduling; Tier 3 support; ensure security standards are met; assign, track and ensure completion of trouble tickets and escalations.

Ideal Candidate
College Degree in Computer Science; six (6) years experience providing technical support to end-users; Security Plus certification; Experience with budget tracking and management; Knowledge of state processes related to personnel, budget, and IT.
Minimum Qualification
Associate's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in providing technical support to end-users for computer hardware, software, and/or network related problems.

Employment Requirements
Security Plus certification is required within 6 months upon hire.
Employment is subject to background check and is conditional pending results.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License with no limitations or restrictions.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
Some bending, standing, and lifting up to 35 pounds.
In state travel is required.
