NM PED Charter Schools Division: The New Mexico Public Education Department¿s Charter Schools Division is driving student success in New Mexico by supporting excellent authorizing practices and charter schools that provide innovative, quality education.
Why does the job exist?
Supervise the technical assistance and training team and provide oversight and direction for all training, technical assistance and professional development activities for charter school administrators and governing board members.
How does it get done?
Develop and training, technical assistance and professional development for governing board members of state chartered and locally authorized charter schools, and for head administrators of state chartered schools regarding the application, planning, implementation, and renewal processes.
Implement evaluation protocols to ensure high quality services and continuous improvement.
Oversee the accreditation of governing board member training courses provided by trainers outside the agency.
Travel to charter schools as needed.
Supervise staff who provide the training, technical assistance, and professional development and staff who provide oversight of home schooling and non-public school accreditation.
Provide training to stakeholders as needed.
Research statute, administrative code, and resources produced by national organizations.

Governor, Secretary of Education, Public Education Commission, Charter Schools.
Ideal Candidate
Ideal Candidate is a motivated leader who is well organized; provides excellent customer service and is equity-minded and skilled at managing the performance of others while contributing the overall effort to support high quality charter schools.
S/he would have experience with charter schools in New Mexico, as well as a working understanding of NM statute, rules and PED operations and drivers that guide home school and non-public school accreditation.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration or Business Administration and five (5) years of experience as a teacher and/or program administrator.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
