Why does the job exist?
This position is responsible for the optimization of workflow in scheduling of Adult Parole Board (APB) Hearings, meeting deadlines, verifying all information is complete to proceed with hearings and determining the best process of hearings.
This position also ensures that documentation following the hearings are processed and disseminated within appropriate timeframes.
How does it get done?
Duties for this position include:
- Review, analyze, and audit all inmate files for Parole Board hearings to ensure that all necessary documents/information is in the file and complete before scheduling the hearing.
- Coordinate with New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) and any required victims, victim advocates or outside parties to ensure hearings are scheduled and held timely.
- Receive, review, analyze and distribute all Parole Board dockets and addendums to all District Attorneys and Victim Advocates statewide in accordance with the Victims of Crime Act.
- Prepares special dockets and facilitates delivery (virtual and physical) for Board Members prior to all scheduled hearings.
- Responsible for gathering Parole Board Minutes and notes and generating Parole Board documentation at the conclusion of hearings.
- Provides technical and administrative support to board members, staff manager, necessary parties, victims, and members of the public including coordination of meetings/special hearings and records requests.

Adult Parole Board Members, victims, victim advocates, NMCD, and constituents of New Mexico.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Working knowledge and experience with parole board operations including an understanding of parole board hearings
- A working appreciation for the interconnection between NMCD and APB regarding departmental responsibilities involving inmates, parolees, and parole violators.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and taking guidance and direction from multiple individuals while maintaining professionalism and providing excellent service.
- Familiarity with NMCD and its various departments, and will have a solid understanding of correction's classification, reentry process, and probation and parole.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
Possible exposure to irate clientele.
Some statewide travel may be required.
Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints.
Must have own mode of transportation for work-related travel.
