Why does the job exist?
The Office of Broadband Access and Expansion (OBAE) is administratively attached to the Department of Information Technology (DoIT).
OBAE has multiple State and Federal programs to increase broadband infrastructure across the state.
With $1.
7 Trillion dollars invested from the Federal government into infrastructure projects across all 50 state and 6 territories, OBAE is working closing with Department of Workforce Solutions and New Mexico Department of Transportation to review and invest funding in infrastructure workforce.
This position will manage OBAE's workforce projects and act as a liaison with other infrastructure workforce entities addressing this generational investment.
How does it get done?
This position will do the following:
- Mange the vendors and contractors and Internet Service Providers
- Negotiate with vendors and contractors to reduce costs
- Monitor project performance, schedule and budget
- Manage project execution
- Ensure project status documentation is updated regularly and present project status to leadership regularly
- Successfully manage stakeholders including but not limited to, State and local governments, Federal government, Tribal governments, private citizens, under-served and underrepresented populations and communities, non - profits, Internet Service Providers, other businesses, schools and healthcare industry
- Ensure Tribes are consulted on rights of way issues and permissions are sought early in project timelines
- Gather statutorily required data for Statewide Broadband Map related to the projects
- Work across internal and external stakeholders to ensure project completion

Tribal leadership, OBAE leadership, OBAE staff, Stakeholders, and awardees of infrastructure funding.
Ideal Candidate
- Demonstrated performance successfully managing infrastructure projects
- Experience in workforce development and/or organizational behavior
- Experience communicating and engaging with high-level organizational leaders
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Administration, or Information Technology and six (6) years of experience in software development, project management, or systems analysis, with a minimum two (2) years of experience in the PM role.

Employment Requirements
Pre-employment background investigation is required and employment is conditional pending results.
Must have a valid drivers license and able to obtain and maintain defensive driving certification through the General Services Department.
Travel is required for stakeholder engagement and meetings.
Working Conditions
Office setting, exposure to Visual Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting.
Must be able to life 25 lbs.
Some travel for meetings required.
