For the first time in decades, LANL is developing a weapon system from the ground up - come be a part of this exciting opportunity! Q-20 (W93/Mk7 Systems Development and Realization group) is looking for a self-motivated, organized, and confident individual to be our Product Realization Lead.
We support the DoD/Navy SSP and DoE/NNSA in defining the mission need and corresponding technical and programmatic requirements.
The W93 team collaborates closely with Sandia National Laboratory and Lockheed Martin Systems design agencies in development of this safe, secure, & reliable warhead.
As the Product Realization Lead, you would oversee the design, qualification, and realization processes at production agencies (KCNSC, Pantex, SRS, Y-12, LANL, and SNL) while mentoring and directing Q-20's Product Realization Teams (PRTs).
Some roles and responsibilities of this position include: Define, track, and complete PRT objectives on time and within budget in collaboration with other essential LANL support personnel.
Monitor performance required to meet programmatic milestones and deliverables.
Engage to correct deficiencies and lead corrective actions where necessary.
Influences product line strategies and direction, leading decision-making and recommendations towards the production agency that support the design agency's requirements.
Serves as the technical resource and mentor to the PRT teams.
Represent the PRT at meetings, briefings, and committee activities both internal and external to the Laboratory; to include leading PRT design reviews and review gates.
Demonstrate technical leadership in identifying and managing technical risks, ensuring that PRT risks are communicated in an effective and timely manner to program leadership.
Resolve technical and programmatic development, qualification, and production challenges in a collaborative manner with multiple internal and external agencies.
Work effectively with engineers and managers from multiple organizations to solve technical problems, including Sandia National Labs (SNL), Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), Pantex (PX), Y-12 Plant, Savannah River (SRS & SRPPF), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and others.

Q Division is responsible for leadership of activities in new LANL weapons programs as well as life extension and alternation projects, providing systems engineering and program management to develop and field qualified engineering solutions to improve the safety, reliability, and security of our Nation's nuclear stockpile throughout the weapon life cycle.
What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: Technical Leadership Demonstrated ability to lead engineering projects to successful completion.

Education Required: Position requires a minimum of a Master's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution and 12 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications: Familiarity with Navy nuclear weapon program and organization structures Understanding of re-entry flight weapon systems used both by DOE and DoD Familiarity with Product Realization Processes, including Defense Program Business Process System (DPBPS) documents and requirements, for development, production, and qualification of nuclear weapon products and processes.
Knowledge of weapon surety (use-control, safety) solutions Familiarity with development of specifications for components and systems Knowledge of Digital Engineering and Models Based System Engineering tools and processes.
Working knowledge of practices related to working with classified documents and parts Experience mentoring technical staff.
Current or previous experience as a derivative classifier Active Q clearance (or DoD equivalent) and Sigma 15 authorization Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM.
All work locations are at the discretion of management.
