Job Description: The Senior Director, Exhibition Blue Sky will provide day to day management of the creative and design process for the early phase development of new exhibition projects.
This role ensures each project incorporates connectivity with the Meow Wolf Universe, alignment with company strategy and inclusion of the core strands of what makes Meow Wolf unique: our art, story interactivity and the code principles of our brand.
Location: Santa Fe, NM Compensation: This is an exempt position.
Compensation will vary based on experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION As Senior Director of Exhibition Blue Sky you will report to the Executive Vice President of Creative Strategy and Development (or delegate) and be responsible for guiding all new exhibition projects through the blue sky process.
You will direct and coach creative leaders through the process of generating new big ideas, ensuring they deliver on business, creative and social impact parameters.
You will collaborate with every leadership role that touches our exhibitions to synthesize and integrate lessons learned and strategies that help propel the exhibitions pipeline.
You will coordinate these exhibition development efforts with the larger Meow Wolf Universe in all its forms of expression.
You will work closely with executive leadership and project Creative Producers and Creative Directors to incorporate company strategies into specific blue sky project plans.
This position will require a strategic and critical thinker who can communicate with both executive leadership, management peers and staff level team members from a variety of backgrounds.
This is a leadership and management position that requires strong management skills, both written and verbal communication skills, as well as a willingness to think outside the box and manage a diverse team of people to propel the creative process towards mind-bending results.
As Director of Exhibition Blue Sky you will amplify and support the diverse creative talents of Meow Wolf through inclusive engagement in the ideation process, ensuring that structures and processes are supportive of the best creative, social impact and business outcomes.
Knowledge and experience with planning, designing and building large-scale multimedia immersive experiences that incorporate interactive technology, architecture, physical art and scenery, digital media content and other transmedia expressions is a requirement for this position.
The ideal candidate has experience working in all the phases of design and production of these types of projects, and has an understanding of the impact of design decisions on execution and operations.

You are critical to the success of the Exhibition Development pipeline and the ongoing construction of our Meow Wolf Universe.
You will ensure the creative work developed in the Exhibition Blue Sky is connected to our Meow Wolf Universe and overall company goals and strategies.
How you will do it… With EVP CSD, manage the schedule of blue sky projects, including reviews with our creative council, and help foster projects through the review and feedback process.
Guide targeted blue sky design phases from beginning to completion, working with creative producers to customize deliverables per project Host and structure untargeted ideations that feed the targeted process with concepts, and deepen connectivity with our Meow Wolf Universe.
With Creative producers, host kickoffs and planning sessions for upcoming blue sky projects.
Develop a library of Blue Sky Level Exhibition concepts that can be aligned with site opportunities as they arise.
Manage people and processes, helping with staffing decisions that allow for inclusion, engagement and dynamic collaboration Constantly learn and evolve our practices, Maintain an inclusive process that is agile and fun Work with EVP Creative Strategy and Development to forecast plans and budgets Integrate facility design parameters and provide support to site selection process by matching appropriate creative concepts to site opportunities Manage an operating budget that funds blue sky project efforts Share out work being created within the Blue Sky Studio to the broader creative team What you will bring… 10+ years experience in a new or emerging immersive creative field: exhibition design, immersive experience design, themed entertainment, immersive theater, digital storytelling, fan/guest engagement, creative architecture etc.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience in a field that has helped you cultivate a strategic mindset: art, design, architecture, liberal arts, arts administration, writing, tech, other.
Academic experience interesting but not required.
Work environment & physical demands… Position location: Santa Fe, NM.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time, 9am - 5pm; may need to work after hours or on weekends occasionally.
TRAVEL: Up to 10% travel to other exhibitions / teams.
