Position Summary: The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for the overall operations of the back of house and kitchen area of the restaurant.
The Kitchen Supervisor manages the back of house (BOH) staff, oversees food preparation and assists in food and product purchases.
Additionally, the Kitchen Supervisor will ensure everyone is trained on proper food preparation and kitchen safety techniques.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Direct supervision of all kitchen staff, including dishwashers, prep cooks, and line cooks in the absence of the Executive Chef.
Ensure all health code regulations are in place and being adhered to, as well as all SFD regulations and procedures.
Ensure the cleanliness and overall health of the kitchen.
Ensure the execution of all prep items to be completed during the shift, and the ability to delegate tasks.
Ability to problem-solve issues that may arise during service, such as increasing volume levels of prepped items to facilitate adequate turnout, and any guest concerns.
Reporting any issues from the shift to the Executive Chef/MOD as they arise.
Ability to engage with service staff to ensure proper procedures are followed regarding food production and delivery.
Assist Executive Chef in proactive scheduling and ordering procedures.
Commitment to excellence in food preparation and presentation.
Maintain a professional restaurant image, including superior sanitation and cleanliness controls.
Ensure kitchen meets statutory and company requirements for health and safety.
Manage BOH staff members with the ability to build and maintain a positive and productive work environment founded on teamwork and a customer focus.
Oversee the preparation and execution of all menu items to Executive Chef's standards.
Assist with proper ordering and receiving of products.
Communicate with management and staff regarding kitchen related topics.
Work the line during high volume periods.
Attend all mandatory in-house trainings.
Qualifications & Characteristics
Impeccable integrity, honesty and trustworthiness
Proficiency in the following restaurant functions: food preparation and execution, personnel management, sanitation, company policies and procedures
Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use POS systems and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook
Exceptional listening and communication skills, including the skills necessary to deal tactfully and professionally with guests, employees, management and vendors
Must have, and maintain, a New Mexico Food Handler permit
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to arrive on-time and work shifts as scheduled
Working Conditions
Hours may vary and you must have flexible availability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods, walk, reach with arms and perform repetitive hand and wrist motions.
The position also requires bending, twisting, and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
