Role Description and Responsibilities
As a member of the Assessment Product team, the Product Manager works closely across functional groups, technology, program management, sales, and marketing to manage product development from launch to implementation.
The Product Manager has deep knowledge and expertise in the development of K-12 assessment and learning products and is responsible for fulfilling the overall product vision and theory of action to ensure that the products meets the needs of stakeholders.
The Product Manager plays a key role in executing the School Assessment product strategy.
Overall Responsibility The Product Manager will be responsible for evaluating the market and the problems that educators are trying to solve, using this information to recommend future roadmap enhancements.
The Product Manager will collect user feedback through interviews, focus groups, and surveys, acting as the voice of the customer.
The Product Manager will own managing product feature development and cross-product integrations with internal teams and vendors to ensure that the roadmaps are delivered according to schedule and budget.
The Product Manager will own the relationship with Sales and Marketing so that the product is accurately described in the market and internal stakeholders are trained and proficient in the product purpose, uses, and claims.
The Product Manager will formulate and execute on a customer engagement strategy, including leading customer forums and tracking usage.
The Product Manager will oversee customer proposal text, inform pricing strategies, and support initial phases of implementation, as well as trouble shooting customer issues.
The Product Manager collaborates across partners, vendors, and internal functional groups to ensure that the specific goals of the product are well understood and executed, and any known gaps are clearly documented and communicated.
The Product Manager will manage risks associated with product readiness, identifying mitigation strategies in support of on-time delivery.
Occasional travel will be required.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
Create product roadmap that is transparent to all levels of the School Assessment organization.
Create and manage product development schedule(s) and offer solutions when deliverables are at risk.
With the Solution Owner, develop the overall product plan including deliverables, milestone dates, and resource needs.
Update plan in real time, as needed, and communicate to all internal stakeholders.
Elicit product requirements and write clear acceptance criteria to support all stages of the product life cycle.
Manage both the specific product and how the product integrates with the software solution.
With the Solution Owner, collect evidence to validate the efficacy of the product and specific product features for improving learner outcomes.
Serve as a voice of the customer by systematically collecting customer feedback and translating it into enhancements.
Support the creation of new business cases associated with the product.
Work with Sales and Marketing to ensure that product collateral and documentation is accurate and aligned with the value proposition.
Support implementation training that is client specific.
Collect and manage associated key performance indicators.
Support implementation and training for successful product use, including guides and videos, both internally and client-facing.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
Education and Experience A bachelor’s degree is required.
5 years product or project management required.
3+ years developing K-12 academic assessment or instructional products required.
Experience using project and product management software preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Takes initiative.
Passionate about creating products that solve student, educator, and family needs.
Ability to solve problems creatively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills Develops working understanding of functional group processes and development timeline Knowledge of the K-12 assessment landscape and competitive products Ability to work comfortably with executive team.
