*Job Summary:*
_The Lead Resale Store Sales Associate is the Supervisor on duty and is responsible for: the opening and closing of the store, proper cash/change to open the store, completes the deposit after the store closes, the alarm is set correctly and working, handles customer complaints/concerns throughout the day, trains new staff, assigns duties to employees throughout the day and ensures employees get designated breaks throughout the day.
_ *Essential Functions and Responsibilities:* ● Responsible for opening and closing the store.
Arrives at store 30 minutes prior to opening and leaves 15-30 minutes after store closes.
● Manage alarm system to include setting and disarming it.
● Ensure security system is in proper working order.
● Ensure store is clean, organized, welcoming and aesthetically appealing for customers to have an exceptional experience.
● When opening the store, ensures adequate cash/change drawer for the day.
● Oversee and execute financial transactions accurately on the register and report “End of Day” discrepancies that day to the Resale Store Manager.
● Responsible and oversees processing donations: sorting, organizing, tagging, pricing, presentation and ensuring donations are put on the showroom floor in a timely fashion.
● Responsible for keeping the safe combination, store key, and alarm code confidential and safe.
● Trains new staff.
● Inspires staff to follow best practices, procedures and policies and guides them if needed.
● Ensures staff is awarded appropriate breaks and a lunch break if warranted.
● Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism to customers at all times.
● Competent in pricing in terms of the current market value of items in the store.
● Have knowledge of trends and styles- i.
e.
vintage vs.
old.
● Have extensive knowledge of brands in regards to quality, designer, price, location.
● Maintain movement of merchandise and understand the price cycle (clothing price cycle is 2 weeks, other items discounted only after 30, 60 and 90 days) etc.
● Maintain quality control of floor and donations.
● Supervise and/or conducts the cleaning of the store and staging of inventory.
● Consistently merchandise items on the floor so that store is attractive to customers.
● Expertise in merchandising and display creation.
● Knowledgeable of displays and store flow (register placement, department flow) ● Handles customer disputes immediately and diplomatically and understand when to utilize the Store Manager.
● Be available to help move heavy artwork or furniture - ability to lift or carry 50 lbs.
● Communicate professionally and clearly with all Santa Fe Animal Shelter Staff, customers, donors, vendors, volunteers, etc.
● Have knowledge of valuable item brands (Waterford Crystal vs.
cut glass from China, Limoges vs.
imitation Limoges) ● Required to be on feet for 8 hours a day.
● Consistently maintain a positive attitude and tone that seeks to inspire fellow employees, volunteers and customers, and encourage harmony.
● Inspires a culture of “Excellence” among employees and volunteers.
● Must be able to follow the “Chain of Command.
” Lead Resale Store Sales Associate reports directly to the Store Manager.
● Proactive and provides solutions if there appears to be challenges in working conditions, staffing, disgruntlement between employees, volunteers and or customers.
● Responsible for implementation of “Weekend Specials”, marketing, campaigns, marking down old inventory and changing out displays on a timely basis.
● Any other task may be assigned by the Store Manager.
● All items that need to be marked down need to be approved by a Lead Resale Store Sales Associate or the Store Manager before giving marked down price to customer.
Items must be on the showroom floor at least 30 days before considering a discounted price.
Ex.
If a customer is interested in an art piece for $300, if the Lead Resale Store Sales Associate is uncomfortable naming a price, please consult the Manager ● Valid driver’s license required.
● Must be able to commute to both stores and the shelter – sometimes several times a day.
● Ability to quickly problem solve and diffuse difficult situations in a professional manner.
● Able to maintain professional demeanor with staff, volunteers and customers at all times.
● Ensure any Shelter animals located in the store are properly cared for to include feeding, watering, cleaning kennel, exercising, enrichment, etc.
● Fluent in Spanish preferred.
● Knowledgeable of on-line sales and encourages this venue with customers.
● Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
● Other duties as required.
*Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:* · High school diploma or GED required · At least 1 year in a supervisor/key holder or similar role required.
· Knowledge of trends, styles – both retail and resale – as well as the unique look and feel or our community’s culture · Extensive knowledge of brands in regards to quality, designer, price, value and demand · Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/staff/patrons · Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook and Google Suite) · Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary communication · Previous retail and customer service experience required · Excels at being a positive inspiration to staff and customers · Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices · Professional demeanor and friendly nature.
